Peace Alliance
Peace Alliance was started by Revd Nims Obunge in the Haringey
borough of North London in 2001 when he effectively decided to extend his parish to include the whole community and to take his message out
into the streets. The Peace Alliance was eventually formed with the central purpose of reducing violence and hate crime across the community
and the idea of a London Peace Week was born. From limited beginnings, this has swiftly grown to include most of the London area and the
Peace Alliance has the direct support of the Home Office, Metropolitan Police, the Prime Minister and other leading players in the region.
Nims is very energetic in trying to widen the scope of his vision and he has visited Manchester on a number of occasions, speaking at the
North West Leader's Forum and the London Peace
Week became the prototype forthe Manchester Peace Week organised by
CARISMA from 2003 onwards. Peace Alliance now sponsors the London Peace Awards to recognise and reward contributions towards Peace in London.
